Minnesota is surrounded by red states and shares a lot of cultural similarities with Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas. But Republicans have failed to give its electoral votes to a president since 1972, have not won a statewide race since 2006, and have recently been getting crushed in the battle for the legislature.
